I paid for it, was texting while waiting for it to be toasted and eventually, after waiting for ten minutes, asked the serving guy where my veggie sandwich went.

He told me that some other girl claimed that she’d also ordered a veggie sandwich and took it.

Which is a lie, because there was only one left and it was MINE.

Just an fyi, in Iraq, women are free to walk the streets in Iraq when they please and wearing what they please. Most people just choose to have someone with them at night time (which we do in Australia too).

If there are restrictions to going out (ie it’s not safe to go out at a certain time), it applies to both sexes.

There is obviously a limit to the kind of clothes you can wear (skinny jeans = fine, booty shorts = nope). But you wouldn’t be stoned to death for wearing it- you’d be considered as rude and would be stared at.

You know what, the media plays such a negative image of Iraq.. And when you get here, it’s really nowhere near as horrible as they try to make it sound.
Yes, the streets are dirtier and parts of this country are still developing. But the people are so humble, funny and genuine.

Whatever is ‘wrong’ with Iraq, is made up for by what is right. And there’s so much that is beautiful about this country and it’s people.
